Indoor air quality (IAQ) is the phrase that's becoming ever increasingly well known amongst many building owners, engineers, facility managers, consultants and other building maintenance personnel.

What causes Indoor Air Quality Problems ?
There are many sources of indoor air pollution in any home. These include Combustion sources such as oil, gas, kerosene, coal, wood and tobacco products, also building materials such as asbestos containing insulation, wet or damp carpet, certain pressed wood products, products for household cleaning, maintenance, personal care and hobbies; central heating and cooling systems and humidification devices; and outdoor sources such as radon, pesticides and outdoor air pollution. We also can't overlook the building's occupants as a problem source. This includes not only the people but also pets and plants. Each one of these occupants can release heat and moisture and emit and absorb a wide range of pollutants. The moving around of occupants tend to deposit pollutants throughout the building.

Cornerstone Inspections believes it is extremely important that people investigating indoor air quality problems have an understanding of the design and operation of the ventilation system of your property.

I am a certified Indoor Air Quality Technician certified by Environmental Solutions Association and IAQ2 certified by Internachi.

I can provide Indoor Air Quality testing for Allergy producing substances called allergens. Common examples of allergens include molds, dust mites, pollens, pet dander and foods. Allergens are the foreign substances that cause allergic reactions in your home or place of business. The allergens originating from dust mites are probably the world's greatest cause of allergies and are significant triggers of asthma attacks. The role of dust mites and pet dander as a source of indoor allergens has been known for over 20 years, it is now possible to measure mite allergens in the environment.

In addition I can provide for the testing of Staphylococcus (Staph) which can be found on sports uniforms and equipment in high schools and colleges.

Immediate effects of these Allergens and bacteria may show up after a single exposure or repeated exposures. These include irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, headaches, dizziness and fatigue.

Other health effects may show up years after exposure has occurred, these include respiratory diseases, heart disease and cancer.

Testing now for Perennial allergies including dust mites, mold and pet dander, can provide your Childs Allergist (Doctor) with the information he or she needs to make your Childs life healthier.
